Art
MDA's Art Program is offered to Kindergarten through eighth grade. In Kindergarten, the focus is on developing observational & fine motor skills; teaching the kids to recognize, and find the elements of art (line, shape, color, form, texture) in their art, everyday objects and nature.
In first through fifth grade, we expand on the elements and create two-and 3-dimensional art; painting, pastel work, ceramics & assemblage. Middle school art further explores the elements and the principles of art; emphasizing individual expression, creative thinking skills, and visual awareness skills. Middle school also has the opportunity to develop curatorial skills through the Spring Art Extravaganza, an event that highlights all the kids' work from the year.
