Through MDA's Physical Education Program, PE classes are taught four times a week for Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Current research shows that when students increase their heart rate through more frequent physical activity, the effects extend beyond the physical to positively impact academic outcomes.
Throughout student's time at MDA, they will be able to, per the National Association of Sport and Physical Education:
Exhibit proficiency in a variety of age-appropriate movement skills and tasks.
Apply knowledge of learned abilities to daily activities and organized sports.
Show learned behavior necessary to participate in physical activity and maintain fitness into adulthood.
Demonstrate respect for others as well as respect for one's self.
Understand and appreciate the perceived benefits of regular physical activity such as an improved quality of life.
