  • Experience Mission Dolores

A day in the life at Mission Dolores Academy is defined by a feeling of community and an emphasis on learning, sharing, and growing together. A unified community of parents/guardians, students, faculty, and staff are what make MDA the successful institution it is today.

Mission Dolores Academy opens its doors every day at 7:00 a.m. for drop-off to meet the needs of the school's working parents and guardians.

MDA provides supervised care for all early-bird students until school starts at 8:00 a.m. The day officially begins with a school-wide assembly. Members of MDA's student council lead with a prayer, followed by important announcements. The entire school community then recites the pledge of allegiance and the MDA creed:
"I am MDA.
I am chosen by God.
I am powerful and smart.
I will respect the rights of others, and I will succeed!
I am MDA!"
This creed was written to strengthen the bond between the school community, students, and families working together for the success of the MDA educational experience.

Once students proceed to their classrooms, the educational day begins. Within each school day, students attend their core classes: English Language Arts, science, math, and social studies. Students attend a selection of specials on a daily basis, including Spanish, Latin, Art, Music, and Drama, and also participate in a lunch-recess hour which includes out-door play. Classes are dismissed at 3:00pm.

After School Program Update

MDA has partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco to provide aftercare supervision to MDA students, which includes heathy snacks, homework study hall, games, basketball court, outdoor half-court soccer field, rated G movies, arts and crafts–to name but a few.

  • Program Overview

Staffed by a director and an associate, the After Care Program begins in the auditorium, where students receive a nutritious snack. Following a supervised study hall, students enjoy outdoor games and free play. MDA's expansive outdoor recreation area, utilized by the program, provides students with the space to enjoy a variety of activities that promote healthy minds and bodies. The program concludes each day with art projects, board games, or STEM activities that challenge our students and keep them engaged and learning outside of school hours.
