Students Take Part in May Crowning Tradition

May 1, 2014

The students of Mission Dolores Academy began the Month of May, the Month of Mary, with the traditional and most beautiful celebratory Marian Mass and Crowning Our Blessed Mother with a beautiful wreath of baby roses. The crowning was followed by a procession representatives the nine classes, each of whom presented a bouquet as a gift of our love of Mary.

Student Body President, Stephen, began the Mass with a warm welcome to the students and staff of Mission Dolores Academy and to all of the parents and parishioners who join us for our Friday Masses. Eighth Grade students – Hasana, Rose Anne, Jacob, and Earl Ryan formed a procession and Honor Guard. Accompanied by violin and organ music, Our Blessed Mother was crowned with roses – Queen of the Angels, Queen of the May. In keeping with Marian tradition, the Mass, celebrated by Reverend Charles Gagan, S.J., concluded with a Litany of Prayer to Mary, the Mother of God. We give heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Sister Annette Sheaffer, O.P. for planning and coordinating the Mass and May Crowning.
