Merry Christmas from Mission Dolores Academy!

Merry Christmas from Mission Dolores Academy!

Christmas is our favorite time of year at MDA! Every year, December is a flurry of activity from our Christmas Nativity, Christmas Concert, tree decorating and so many holiday themed activities. Here are some of this year’s highlights:

Christmas Nativity

Our Nativity Play is always a grand production held during Mass at the beautiful Mission Dolores Basilica. This year's play on December 14th was one of the best ever! The Basilica was filled with students, teachers, parents, and friends for our performance of the greatest story ever told. A huge thank you to our main cast from the Second Grade, our narrators from the Grades Four through Eight, and our String Program students for the beautiful violin music.

A big thank you to the following for all of their hard work in preparing our students for the performance: Volunteers Sue Bowen, Jean McCurdy, Pilar Ingreso and Cheryl Williams, Second Grade teachers Ms. Kathryn Wilchynski and Mr. Julian Thomas, String Program teacher Mr. Calvin Murasaki, and Sister Annette Sheaffer, O.P.

Christmas Concert

On December 11th all of our students and MDA community gathered in the auditorium for our annual Christmas concert. Each grade took to the stage to perform a festive song that they have been busy practicing with Music teacher Ms. Marshall. You can see more photos here, and for a really fun video of First Grade singing "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth", click here. A big thank you to Ms. Marshall and all our teachers for all the hard work in producing the show.

Guardsmen deliver our Christmas Tree

Christmas festivities kicked off this year with the delivery of a beautiful Christmas tree from Andy and Even of The Guardsmen. MDA parent, Melissa, got to work decorating right away! MDA enjoys a longstanding relationship with The Guardsmen. In addition to the gift of a Christmas tree every year, we also have several students attending MDA on Guardsmen scholarships.

Holiday Crafting

Over the past few weeks our students have been participating in so many fun, holiday themed crafting activities. A highlight was our MDA Spirit Family day where we all got to decorate gingerbread houses together (even our teachers and staff!).

We wish you all a safe and happy holiday season, and all the very best for 2018!
